Night Time Shots
This is a new area for the website and indeed a new area in photography for me which I have always shied away from, because I always end up with bad shots. My pictures are either very blurry because I knock the flash off, or the object, i.e the street light appears as a white or yellow dot. Night time shots are something I have always wanted do as they show the street lights off at their best. Road shots have always amazed me as to how the red and white 'streaks' form car head lamps are created. I have been talking to some photography enthusiasts and they suggested I knock the flash off and play with the shutter speeds, etc, so that's what I have done. The following pictures are my first attempt at this, please don't laugh, I hope to get better with practice. The pictures are of Scotland road in Carlisle, the lanterns are on old REVO columns. The yellow lights are Philips MA5s and the white lights are Urbis Opalo 3s.
Taken 28/08/2008 on Scotland Road.
As can be seen from the above pictures they are a little blurry, tripod may be my next purchase. I am very pleased with the streaky car headlamp effect :) As can be seen, the manual settings have quite an impact on the resultant picture.
The following picture is of the REVO column with an Philips MA5.
In the foreground of the following picture the lantern is an Opalo 3 with 150w CDO lamp in it. This lantern was fitted by Steven from AMEY on the 26/08/2008. The old Philips MA5 can be seen in my collection. The lantern in the background is a Philips MA90 internal gear.
Again as can be seen in the pictures the camera settings give great effects to the picture colour.
